Hello all I recently aquired a Philco #70 cathedral...Some mokey butt in the past slapped a "renew-a-finish" all over it to make it shinny... I would very carefully like to remove this shiny crap and bring back close to original finish...Maybe #000 steel wool and laquer thinner..being very careful...then complete with a paste wax?? THOUHTS??? Anyone dealt with this "renew-a-finish" crap b4?

Hi Mike, is that the thick resin finish or something like restore a shine. If it is coats of lacquer or restore a shine then the steel wool with mineral spirits should dull the finish. If it is that thick resin stuff I had to sand it off with a belt sander. Paint stripper didn't even touch it. Good Luck, George T
