Ford 84MS Missing audio unit
7/12/2014 6:33:41 PMDave Froehlich
Hello All,
The missing unit contains two 2N176 transistors (which I have), an input and output transformer, and a heat sink for the transistors.
Is the audio unit available anywhere (un-restored) or should I make one myself?

Thanks,

Dave
84MS is the a 1958 T-Bird radio.

When I was at Bob's Bird House in Delaware a few years ago, he had several of the 'power' section units you are describing for the those year radios. Here's his website and contact info...

Brian,
That's a nice website, but I can't find the audio unit there. I could add a plate resistor externally and then listen to the tuner through a capacitor, using another amplifier. That's all I need to do after I replace the 4 capacitors (3 electrolytic + 1 paper).
What is the usual plate resistor for a 12DL6? I'll find out. Maybe a .01 mf capacitor to "listen" through. I'll find out.

Thanks,

Dave
