Emerson 126

The 126 Emerson I am working on is really very poor in the volume and sensitivity deparment. Good tube tests and no cap.resistor problems. Antenna is 50 feet so fair input there. Loudspeaker and volume control are my next suspects but before I pull them to bits would appreciate any other input. Many thanks.

Sounds like an alignment issue to me.

This is a four-tube set (one of which is a rectifier) so when new it was never a stellar performer in either the volume or sensitivity categories. However, if you have a strong local station it should be able to play it at adequate volume. Did you check the B+ voltage level? If low it will impair both set sensitivity and volume (as well as tone quality).
