I am looking for a 2.5 meg pot for the height control on an rca T-120 TV 1949, should I be looking for a tapered pot? can't seem to find any at 2.5 meg thanks, George

Don't limit yourself to 2.5 meg...try 2 or 3 meg if you get desperate. I would say linear taper would the choice to use, but that I'm not positive on.

Only a small range of the pot is needed for adjustment. So, you could use, say, a 1M pot with a 1.5M fixed resistor in series. It may be necessary to select a lower value fixed resistor to put the pot adjustment range in the "sweet spot". Pot should be linear taper; log (or audio) taper would work, too, but the adjustment might be touchy.
