Replacement for 35Z5 tube

I am all out of 35Z5 tubes and can not find in my books a replacement for it... I would prefer not to do any rewireing....Was wondering if there is a replacement?? Thanks

Mike,

Yes, you can get 45Z5 rather cheaply. The only difference is an additional 10 volts for the filament, which may be beneficial if the total string voltage is below 115V or so. I bought some a couple of months ago for all of a dollar each. Same story for 35W4 = 50DC4. Tony

As Lou mentioned 35Z5 doesn't cost much. Using 45Z5 may be preferred, less expensive and better for high line voltage. Eventually 45Z5 will cost more as it isn't as common.

::You can use 35Z4 tube if the radio didn't come with a dial lamp. The 35Z4 doesn't have a dial lamp pinout. I've replaced the 35Z5s with 35Z4s in my radios that don't have dial lamps to save for ones with them. The 35Z4 are dirt cheap. I would not trust using used recitfier tubes it's not worth it they can short out and don't perform as well as a new tube.
