I'm looking over the FM visual alignment instructions for a GE 324. It calls for an 8mfd oil filled cap. Is anything like this available today, or can I sub something else like an AC motor run cap? If I could use an electrolytic, I'd guess the instructions wouldn't have specifically called for oil filed, or would have use the "or" operative.
Thanks

One option---Skip the scope alignment (which requests the Pyranol cap) and use the meter alignment method instructions. GE probably wanted to sell more of their Pyranol, PCB filled capacitors, hence the suggestion of Pyranol in the alignment. I don't see why a modern dry cap of equal value shouldn't be OK to substitute IMHO.

It's an alignment procedure support part, what's the worst that could happen? Use whatever is handy and don't look back.
