I have finished working on the customers model 70. Just waiting for a 45 tube and dial bushing.
I looked at the cabinet that has a radio in it that he also has.
The cabinet has a label on it that shows that it is a model 70 cabinet.
The chassis in the cabinet is a model 55C with a new reconed speaker.
I think the 70 chassis and speaker I have of his belongs in the 70 cabinet and that his father put the 55C in the cabinet some time ago.
His father restored old radios like we do and is in old age home now, the son is trying to figure out what is still left in the old work shop.
So, can a model chassis 55C and 70 be interchanged in a model 70 cabinet?
Thank you,
Mitch
I only saw blurred photos of the 55C in the cabinet and it actually looked like the model 70.
I wanted to be sure before I told the customer that we could install the model 70 radio and N speaker in his cabinet.
He is going to have the cabinet professionally restored as a keep sake to his father, I just needed to be sure.
All due respect to you and the Forum,
Mitch
