Zenith 16Z25 volume control value

Hello All,
Does anyone know what the value of the volume control is? I can't measure it because the carbon strip is broken.

Thanks,

Dave

I don't know what the factory value was, but anything from 250K to 1M should work OK, audio taper of course.

Thanks. I'll try what I have lying around and see how it works without affecting the gain. I have tried to find a 1 Meg ohm control with a switch but they cost way too much for some reason. I can get all values up to 500K ohms for $2.00 a piece at the most. The switch is $1.00. But if I want the 1 Meg ohm it costs $10.95 for the exact same Alpha brand control with the switch included. It makes no sense at all. Values up to 2.2 Megohms used to be easily obtainable. But now 500K ohms is the largest value that can be found.
Somebody will have the SAMs Photofact who will can look in it and let us know what the value of the control is. It's SAMS 367-12.

Thanks Again,

Dave

The pot value won't affect the gain, at least if you stick to a pot that is 250K ohms or better. The FM discriminator stage that drives the pot is relatively low impedance and will have no trouble at all driving a 250K pot.
