Seems I did not remember (from 10 years ago) when the domain expired. Since I renewed for another 10 years it will likely happen again then; I doubt my memory is getting any better.

In Lieu of an invoice Network Solutions sent an expiration notice at the very moment they shut the domain name off.

As of 7:45PM Sunday March 16th, 2014 they have been paid (and it has already cleared the credit card company). Not sure how long it will take for them to get it back working.
