: Looking through my old sam's index from years ago (1979). PHILCO used a two number, then a dash & then 3 to 4 numbers system up to about 1954. Then they changed their system. PHILCO started using letters in front of the model no. after 1954 approx. Check in a sam's index as I will when I get home. It's rather WORN out. The outside is practially falling apart & the pages are half-brittle. The index is buried in a box in the basement. Haven't used it in a long time because there are no libraries that handle Sam's here close by. But I remember this from when I lived in the big city & used the library. (I'll jot the model no. down & get back to you when I get in to town next time (if you don't get an answer by then).

: I just typed in that model no. & looked at the set. I zoomed up to 200%. That model has a strange dial scale! A line with two rectangles. The left knob has a off-on/volume control. The right knob is really odd. Looks as if the same knob controls tuning, tone & AFC. If the two rectangles are the dial windows, how are the two dials "geared" to work-with a cord/pulley set-up or two gears? That set would give some unexperienced repair person a decent run for his money or a good test of his mechanical abilities! Both dials have to show the right frequency. My PHILCO T-902 has a WILD dial cord set-up, they use a double pulley system to stretch the dial twice as far. Some PHILCO's had a wild dial cord set-up, as many as four cords to change stations & indicators, not even counting the screw-ball twists & turns around the chassis. My 41-285 is a good example of twists & turns. They are in TIGHT areas around the dial scale (up & down, inside & outside of the dial(hidden corners)

Don't know if this will turn out to be a readable image but I'll give it a try.
Right click on it then "SAVE AS"

Well I can see the schematic image was wayyyy to low of a resolution. I've emailed a better copy directly to you.....hopefully it's a match for your model

: I looked at my old Sam's in the basement. It is in there. The year is approx. 61-63. Now I'm in the four winds. But remembering what I saw, it's in the 500----something sets. Hope this will help! I've seen some real wild PHILCO dial cords but this is the worst I've seen! From looking at image try a seperate cord goes into the circuit board around a pulley. A person would almost have to be a mechanical genius to try to restring that set. What is the mid-range aligner set-up?. Is it a cam for the dial cord to change cord tension? Maybe it pulls on the cord at a certain position. I'd LOVE working on that cord set-up. Joke: I'd be burning some midnight oil.
