I am repairing a old 1948 Buick car radio the speaker is bad in it, it is a 8" round, but not completely round, so a new one will not fit. the 4 corners are sort of squair. any one have any ideas of what would fit. the Delco part # of the speaker is 6115, is there any cross reference?

If you get stuck, you can use the next-size-down round or oval speaker and fab a thin sheet-aluminum adapter plate for it to fit the speaker housing. You won't notice the difference (in fact, speaker technology having improved substantially in the past 60 years, it may even sound better than new). Just be sure that the new speaker has a magnet that will clear the cutout in the radio chassis for it.

I case you want to keep it original (but it will cost more this way)...Try contacting Rich Stamer, at Sound Remedy...http://www.soundremedynj.com/index.htm
I know Rich, and he is very honest and reliable. He is vintage radio guy too, so he understands the hobby. He should be able to tell you if he can re-cone your speaker if you give him a call. He is located in New Jersey.

I found that a 5x7 speaker fits in just fine and has a lot better sound, its dual cone and a lot bigger magnet. Thanks for the idea.
