VOLUME CONTROLS & CONTOUR CONTROLS
2/14/2014 1:40:20 PMAUSTIN
On the website Fun With Tubes, there is a group of areas on electronics--audio amplifiers (how they work & what the mfgs. DON'T want you to know). This special section describes volume controls & loudness controls in good detail. Wish I would have found this site before. Many thanks to our knowlegable friend LEWIS. I can read & see the diagrams & how to tell the difference between an audio & linear taper PLUS the 4th terminal on the pot! It also descries a loudness knob. Thanks LEWIS for leading me to this site. (From a few days ago), still have to take her set apart to check the underside for some kind of a part for the birdie elimination. Until I get a tube manual how are the pins on a tube socket identified? Where does a person start to count from on 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 pin tubes? ((Her young son has a question for later on, something about a little "walkie-talkie" box)).----There was also a thing about a REVERSE audio-linear taper used on some TV sets. Am checking some of my OLD aquaintances for a tube manual. There were some younger living relatives of "guys" that had radio & tv shops. Maybe I'll luck out. Some day I'll learn something about radios. Always fasinated me about the talking little man in a radio that wasn't there!! When I get into town I'll have to stop at the library & go to the electronics section.

Austin:
Maybe you didn't see my post about "Bunker of Doom". There you can find several tube manuals you can use for reference.
