Philco 116-122 shadow meter
2/10/2014 11:53:34 AMBen
Hello all, the shadow meter coil resistance seems too high, measures 1.9 meg. Based on info in the Philco service hints, I think that the resistance should be around 1.1K. Philco part no is: 45-2086. Can someone confirm this resistance or let me know correct value. Thanks again for your time and help.

1.9 Megohm is way too high. Is this by chance the max value that your DMM can display? It doesn't seem reasonable that the coil could read this high and not be open. Internal corrosion, perhaps?

Correct DC resistance for the coil is around 1.1 Kohm.

These coils can be rewound, but it is somewhat of a tedious process.

My DMM is a Fuke and will read/display higher values. I thought about corrosion as possible problem. Looks like a rewind is in order!!! Thanks again for all of your help CV. Will let you know how the rewind turns out.
