Philco 116-122

Hello all, I am restoring a model 166-122 Philco and the 60 ohm wire wound pot between the 6A3 filament winding is defective. I disassembled the pot and cleaned the wiper and winding and it is still interment. Would it be advisable to use a 35 ohm 5 Watt resistor from each tube heater terminal to ground? Any other suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

The fixed resistors will work but you may need to experiment with different proportional values in order to find a combination that minimizes hum.

The resistor power rating can be quite low. A 60 ohm resistor across a 2 volt source will draw 0.033 mA.
Since P=IV, 0.033 * 2 volts = 0.066 watts. The tube plate current will also flow through this resistor, but half-watt resistors should be large enough to handle both the heater bias and the audio current.

Thanks for the help CV. Someone had worked on this old Philco in it's early life and it has been challenging working through the past fixes!!
