Best regards
Marc
Great Britain's power standard was actually 120V/60 Hz until after WW2, when the national power grid conversion was made to 230V/50 Hz.
The USA and other North American nations didn't convert for reasons similar to those given for never converting to the metric system: too many appliances/tools out there that were in use. Apparently the Great Depression-and-two-war-devastated Euro countries had much less of a "problem" with their citizens accumulating expensive electrical gadgetry than did the relatively unscathed USA.
The thing that made me think that it was a Euro set was the tube that is marked "MARCONI" on the bulb, even though it is marked RCA RADIOTRON on the base. Not very meaningful, I suppose, since the set probably went through at least a couple of tubes in its useful lifetime.
Best regards,
Marc
:120 V operation doesn't identify it as "American". Most of Europe used 120V as its standard voltage prior to the start of the 1950s, although many countries used 50 Hz instead of 60 Hz as the frequency standard. The world (except for North America) changed over to 230V/50 Hz immediately after the conclusion of the second world war. Your item appears to be from the 1930s (closer to the start of the decade than the end) so it was probably made to operate on the then-standard of 120V. After the conversion, it was by then either obsolete and relegated to a storeroom, or operated for a while on a downconverter transformer.

Glad to see you back on the forum. I always appreciated your help (and patience) with numerous problems I posted.

Hoi Ed,
:It is now clear that this is an intercom telephone.
:I have removed of each part and thus a schedule.
:Indeed, the inverter jumps back to the booth listen.
:Wiring the inverter was not complete and I thought this was faulty.
:There have been many parts replaced.
I will send you a schedule what originally looked like.
:Probably tomorrow, I have my son needed.
He has to explain to me how this works.
:Best regards,
Marc.

:Sir Marc . . . . . .
:
:
:I also tend to want to go with Sir Bill Geeeee's mentioned, intercom aspect identification of the unit also.
:
:
:The units skimpy tube lineup with their overall available low gain, tends to suggest this as being a REMOTE UNIT rather than THE MAIN unit.
:
:
:Using its speaker as a microphone tends to require a bit of amplification gain, even when utilizing the reversed output transformer boost.
:
:
:Wonder if those two large black, vertically stacked components just behind the speaker are being two power resistors (for filament dropping) ?
:
:
:Also confirm that the left shaft coming out, now WITHOUT its attached knob, is having a SPRING LOADED RETURN ACTION.
:
:
:If so, there was initially being a bar knob on that function switches shaft end. Normally the knob rests horizontally and is in its normal intercom
:
: receive /listen mode,
:you push down on the bar to TALK, then it pops back into its NORMAL intercom receive/listen mode, when being released.
