Not sure what to tell you about the 6X5's but some had a problem shorting and taking out the power transformer when this happened. If me, I would make sure and fuse them. Maybe someone else can tell you which ones to use that weren't susceptable to shorts.

...any thing about the 6x5

They have the same electrical spec- only difference is packaging, metal (6X5) or glass bulb shape (G, GT). Use whatever suits your taste.

You can fuse the B+ bus, the AC line, or both. If you fuse the AC line, a 1 amp fuse should be adequate; half an amp on B+.

Not fusing B+ won't lead to a safety issue; but it might save your 6X5 tube from self-destructing if something on B+ (such as a filter cap) ever shorts to ground.

Fusing the AC line input is always a good idea. If something shorts out the AC line inside the radio, it can cause a fire before the (usually high-current) breaker in the house service panel trips.

:You can google 6X5 replacement options/advice and it will bring up a forum discussion from Antique Radio site and you can learn what others have done about replacing the 6X5.
