Zenith 6s304 radio/RP- Need Complete Schematic
1/29/2014 2:16:02 PMDaveF
Just bought this art deco round dial radio/phono table-top and apparently a mouse got underneath and chewed some of the wires, which I will have to cover with shrink tube, but I want a detailed schematic that covers the wiring with the phono as well as the chassis. The one posted here is a "general" one that only covers the chassis itself. Does anyone recommend a good source for the "complete" schematic on this player?

Dave,

The only additional information I could find on your Zenith was a Riders' diagram of the Phono wiring. You can RIGHT CLICK on the image below and "SAVE AS" to your computer.

Other than the service data you already found on this site's Resources section I'm not sure there is any more information available.

One possibility however, would be the original Zenith service data for your model. Perhaps a forum member might have that available.

Have you considered replacing the deteriorated rubber coated wiring rather than attempting to shrink-tube it ? Just clip one end of the wire to replace and tack solder the end of a new wire to it. Then use the old wire to pull the new wire through the original routing of the wire. This method works very well and is relatively fast.

Regards,

Dennis

Dennis,

Thank you very much for sending me that. It will certainly help me. The wiring that was chewed was actually cloth wire, so It will be pretty easy to replace. The only thing I am worried about is the oscillator coil which was nibbled at also, but I have not replaced the electrolytics or fixed the wires yet to power it up and see. I know that unless I have the connections correctly attached to the phono, it will not even power up. This radio/rp is going to be a real challenge.
