There are other options. Replace 2.5 volt tubes with 6.3 volt type. A 27 can be replaced by 37 or 76. 24 can be replaced by 36. 71A will work in place of 45 but filament voltage should be reduced a little.
PTOP has some transformers with 2.5 volt filaments.

Could remove 6.3 volt winding on a transformer and add 2.5? The 6.3 volt winding is usually outside layers on a transformer. Many transformers are wound 4 turns per volt. These only require 10 turns of wire for 2.5 volts.

:The pwr xmfr in my philco 95 burned out, replaced it with another pwr xmfr but no 2 volts in that xmfr for filaments, using an "outboard" 6.3 v xmfr to power 3 27 in series. B+ ok til I turn on xmfr to power filaments. THEN b+ drops to half. If anyone can stop laughing, will this 'odd' hook up work?
