Cleaning controls

I got a Sencore SC61 scope off ebay and all the controls need cleaning. Some are regular pots and can be cleaned easily, however, the time base switch for horizontal sweep seems to be all sealed. It looks like several sections in a pancake arrangement. Can I just try to seep some deoxid down into it between the pancake sections or will that foul it up?

You really need a way for the cleaner to both get in and get out. If there is no exit port for the cleaner, it will eventually evaporate and deposit the crud it flushed off somewhere else in the unit- Murphy's Law says that it will end up in the worst possible place.

CV's right about the cleaner. I have in the past drilled a small hole on the top and bottom of switchs and sprayed them out with contact cleaner I got from Home Depot. It comes in a blue spray can with a red 6" long tube attachment. Make your holes big enough for the tube to fit in and spray the heck out of it while moving it. When done take a little silicone and cover the holes. It shouldn't harm anything. Best O Luck, George T
