Brian I went to site u gave me, see lots stuff [junk?] there but nothing about resistors. Could u tell me what to click on for dog bone resistor or anyone else give me a "simple" site

Might try jameco.com for resistors. They have several different grab bags of resistors. The 107853 part number is 540 pieces of 1/2 watt 5% resistors of standard values which figures out to about 5 cents each.

On this Forum in past months (since the start of the year, I think) there is a discussion of making new "phony dogbone" resisors using new modern resistors that have been overmolded with an epoxy paste. These are then painted to closely resemble the original style dogbones used in 1930's radios.
This would allow someone to exactly duplicate the underchassis "look" of a factory-new radio. I believe that there is a link to a descriptive procedure for doing this.

To me, this is somewhat pointless (most people don't display the under-chassis innards of their radios) but is an interesting technique.

This was your original thread question from 10/17...Do you need dog bone resistors, or, the chart to read the values (which was on my link in the earlier thread)?

Thanks CV and Clifton, but I DO NOT need dog bone resistors~~~~~~~~just need to know value of solid color [blue & green] in my philco 95

Hi

Best to go by where they are located in the schematic:

You can go by Philco part number here:

Sir Jim . . . . . . . . Eyeeeeeeee or Ellllllllllll . . . . .but . . . .. aka . . . THE mowman

"(I) just need to know value of solid color [blue & green] in my philco 95"

Bottom of chassis photos of that rarer 95 chassis are not available to me nor do I have one to document from.

BUT . . . . I am NOT seeing ANY dominant BLUE color code markers (designating a '6' digit) , but I certainly DO see plenty of GREEN's, as being the resistors primary body color identifier / color coding.

Your doggie bone resistors manner / sequence of identification is being :

BODY COLOR . . . . . of the resistor as being the FIRST significant number of a series of 3.

TIP / END COLOR . . . . . of the resistor as being the SECOND significant number of a series of 3.

CENTER DOT /or/STRIPE . . . . . as being the THIRD significant number of a series of 3.

(Thats also being how many zeroes you then need to tack onto the first two numbers)

Just check out the info being provided below and then see if it doesn't get you home free !

( I don't think that I encroached upon, and erroneously mis identified any of the units wirewound units. )

How many mice does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Just two, the REAL trick is getting them into that lightbulb in the FIRST place.

I was not thinking that your 95 unit went THAT far back on its resistors color coding scheme .

If you are finding solid BLUE colored units, they must be the 13k resistance values used by the unit.

While, the solid GREEN units would be relating to a 1 meg unit value, but I see none of that value used on the schematic.
