Philco Model 1460

Hello All,
I can't seem to find any information about this phonograph anywhere. What year is it from? Did it take a crystal cartridge? It has a solid state amplifier. But that amplifier seems to have no oomph to it. So either there's a problem, or it originally had a crystal cartridge in it. I didn't think crystal cartridges were still in use once tubes were gone.
If anyone knows what cartridge was in this phonograph, please let me know.

Thanks,

Dave

Ceramic cartridges took over after crystal types faded away in the late '50's. You probably had a ceramic cartridge since your player is SS. Your phono can be from anytime since the mid 1960's. But without any info available, photos would help ID the set and cartridge.

A ceramic cartridge is simply a more stable (material) version of a crystal cartridge, which is much more susceptible to heat and moisture and thus failure. Many ceramic element cartridges of the '50's are still working...the crystal versions rarely survive.
