10/19/2013 2:34:20 PMmike
I picked up junk pile of radio parts at auction and a Thordarson type 2724A transformer. The transformer plugs into a wall outlet and has a 3v tap and a receptical that gets line voltalge at 116V... Not sure what exactly this transformer is or would be used for..? I would say it is late 1930s vintage..sealed in tar w/ wblack wrinkle paint finish..quite large... Isolation transforme???(not sure what that is either) maybe someone can explain...
Thanks

Thordarson numbers appear to be 2 numbers, then a letter. I can't find anything beginning with "27"
Could be a special for an OEM.

Sir Mike . . . . . . . . .

True . . . most Thordarson . . . part numbers were we utilizing that intermediate alphabetical designator and there was some point in time of the marriage of Thordarson / Meissner.

Plus, its frontal alphabetical prefix told you a bit about its transformer purposing.

Here are some more research sites to throw at you :

And last of all, for . . . . EVERYBODYS . . . . . "Blast from the past" enjoyment . . . let's start at anno 1929 with all of the Allied Radio Corporations catalogs

I think Bigfoot ACTUALLY is blurry, that’s the problem — it’s not being the photographer’s fault.
