Question about oscillator frequency
10/6/2013 7:12:21 PMDaniel M. Rine
Good evening,
Iam using a tube AM radio for a test unit.
The radio plays fine. I have an rf generator. The test I have setup is this: I have tuned the radio dial to 900kc, layed the rf generator leads next to the radio.
As I turn the frequency control on the rf generator the radio produces a loud tone. My question is this: the tone I hear on the radio, is that the oscillator running?

Most signal generators have a modulated tone, usually 400 Hz. That's probably what you hear. Can you switch off the modulation to check this? Might be a switch that says "Internal" or "External."
