Delco 983570 not found
10/3/2013 11:24:32 AMDave Froehlich
Hello All,
I can't find the Delco 983570 service data here in Nostalgia Air or anywhere else. It's not in Beitmans Most often needed either. Is it one that's exactly the same as another model? If so, which one? Where can I find this service data for this radio?

Thanks,

Dave

Hello All,
I found it here under "963570":

http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/446/M0022446.pdf

That's a typo that should be corrected.

Anyway, I found a picture of the head unit I have in front of me, and that website claimed that it's from a 983570. But it can't be because the head unit is a complete tuner and preamp with a tuning capacitor, supposedly from 1939. It contains the following tubes:

6R7, 6K7, 6K7 and 6A8. I wish I knew which power supply/Amplifier goes with it. If anyone knows, please let me know. If I find it, I'll let everyone know.

Thanks,

Dave

Universal Schematic Locator shows it is in Riders vol 9 - 95.

It's listed under United Motors Service (Delco)

Dennis,
It turns out that it's still not the radio I have in front of me. There is only a tube chart inside the tuner/preamp unit. If I could search by tube numbers, it might help.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

Is this your set? Scroll down to 1939 Olds 982126.

https://sites.google.com/site/identifyinginstrumentpanels/home/radios-index/radios-oldsmobile-page-1

Information for 39 Olds model 982126 is in Riders 10-10, 10-11 and United Motors Service 6D-965. This set uses a 6Q7, but someone may have substituted the similar 6R7. The power supply/amplifier contains an 0Z4, 6N7, and a 6J5. I have this tuner in storage, but do not have the power/audio section.

Dennis,
It looks like ZERO car radios on that page. Nobody substituted a wrong tube. The tubes on the tube chart are the tubes in the tuner.
The number 6R7 is on the tune chart, NOT 6Q7.
I have gone through Riders 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13. It has to be in one of them. The tuner unit resembles a 983570. But it is clearly NOT a 983570. This is a Pontiac car radio. Please keep looking.

Thanks,

Dave
