keep my resistor cool

Rider 6 Emerson page 3 Model 19, out of dozens of speakers I have, only thing the fits is one with a PM. Speaker field is 3000 ohms what type of watts are we looking at? resistor line cord is 185 ohms @ 17 watts, would 7 watts work for speaker field??

Determine the B+ current, and figure wattage by I^R. Double the wattage rating for the resistor.

Correction:
Determine the B+ current, and figure wattage by I^2R. Double the wattage rating for the resistor.

The field coil is also the filter choke in the power supply. The full load of the radio is on this coil. Use a 10 watt resistor. That should keep it cool. You may need to up the MFD value of the filter capacitors to make up for the loss of the choke.

The speaker field is NOT the filter choke in this radio. This set has a separate 300 ohm choke in the pi filter. The speaker field is just a load off B+ to ground. It can be left open.

Did not look at the print for your radio. CV is correct.
