Jackson-Bell Peter Pan radio-Only one station
2/7/2002 6:36:22 PMJeff
I just received a Jackson-Bell "Peter Pan" cathedral radio that I purchased on ebay. I believe the model # is 84. It was advertised as "working well". When I powered it up, it did indeed give good sound, but only one station came in across the dial! Turning the tuning knob only caused this station to rise & fall in volume. The radio has 4 tubes: 24, 24, 47, and an 80 rectifier. Interestingly, I am not sure if this is the original chassis, as the chassis is labeled "Gilfillan" rather than Jackson-Bell. The tube count is correct, however, according to the schematic that I downloaded from this site. Could the problem be the tuning coil? If so, how would I identify which coil that is and how would I repair it?
Thanks for your help.

Hi Jeff

It could well be a tuning coil. Check continuity of the coils connected to your 24 tube grids, top cap to chassis ground.

Your chassis is original. Gilfillan made radios for Jackson Bell in Los Angeles.
