On the next picture, the field coil has been installed (silicone glued) over the PM speaker.
PS: Be carefull to the magnetic pole. When the field coil is energized, it should be attracted by the Permanent magnet pole.

I forgot to tell that when i'm forced to install a PM speaker, i usually get rid of the humbacking coil.
There are places that can recone speakers. It can be expensive though. I had a electrodynamic speaker reconed for a Webster-Chicago wire recorder just to keep it all original.

Don't want to wax too philosophical here, but at what point do we stop treating these units as techological/hobby hardware curosities and begin to regard them as important cultural icons over which we merely have stewardship?
