Rebuilding IF cans

Hello!!
I have finished recapping a Hallicrafters S38D chassis. There is a lot static on every band when tuning. I think the problem is the capacitors in the IF cans. Can someone point me to a web site that can explain how to do this procedure?
Thank you!!

Are you asking about rewinding the coils, or just replacing the caps in the cans...???

Daniel,

Is the static present all the time or just while actually turning the tuning knob. The grounding strips between the tuning capacitor rotor (movable part) and the capacitor frame may need to be cleaned if there is noise while tuning.
