Question about a 35z5-GT rectifier tube

Hello!!
I have a question about pin 3 on the 35Z5 GT.
Connected to pin 3 is a 39 ohm resistor the other end is connected to pin 5, the plate. One side of the indicator lamp is also connected to pin 3. Finally there is a paper capacitor, C5, a.05uF @400volts connected to pin 3, the other end is connected to B-,
ground. Here are my questions: Can someone tell me the purpose of the .05uF capacitor? And can I replace this capacitor with a .047uF@630 volts?
Thank you kindly!!

Hi

Sure you can use a .047 mf @ 630 volts in place of this cap. It's there for a couple reasons. Helps to reduce AC line noise. Also prevents modulation hum. Sometimes when tuning in strong stations hum will be heard. This cap reduces that type of hum.
