Philco Model 60

Someone changed the audio output tube on my Philco model 60 to a 6V6GT. I have some audio distortion. Would this be cause by the 6V6? Also, the audio output transformer was open. Would this have been due to the 6V6GT?...maybe? I have changed out the speaker and output transformer with known good ones.

Not likely. Is the replacement audio output transformer compatible primary-impedance-wise with the 6V6 tube?

Check voltage between pin #5 of the 6V6GT and pin #8. Pin #5 must be around 12 volts negative. If near zero or positive you will hear distortion.
