MYSTERY PHILCO!!!
2/2/2002 12:21:54 PMBrad
The mystery Philco has the following tube lineup:

6K7
5Y4G
6V6
6A8G
6Q7G

It is in a wood tombstone cabinet, is AM/Shortwave, tubes and speaker rot says it must be from the 30's. I'm trying to dig up a schematic, and figure out the can caps-

The radio has the following one tap can capacitors with Philco numbers only:

30-2024S
30-2117S
30-2118S

Any ideas on the MFD values? Philco model #?

Hi Brad

Philco made several models with similar tube lineup around 1938. The 6V6 could have been a 6F6. They are usually interchangeable.

Check schematic for 38-60 or 38-610 on this site.

Chuck Schwark has a Philco site with cross numbers for parts. Your caps should be listed there.

Norm-

You've done it again- The radio matches the picture and diagrams for a Philco 38-60, with one replacement tube as you mentioned. I now have schematics and got the radio working too.

Thanks again-

Brad
