Capacitor change

Hello All!
This time I am working on Hallicrafters, model S-38D. The filter capacitor is a 3 setion of 60uF, and 2 40uF. Can someone tell me what I can replace this filter capacitor with? There are 2 .02uF capacitors in the chassis, what can these caps be replaced with?
Thank so much for your help!!!

Hi Daniel, you can replace the 3 section electrolytic with single electrolytics, but you need to know the working voltage of the different sections. Put the positive side of the electrolytics to the wires and clip them loose from the original electrolytic, and the negative side to a possible black ground wire or the chassis. Most of the 3 section electrolytics ground to the chassis. The working voltages should be written on the electrolytic. Also there should be symbols by each value and they will be somewhere on the bottom of the electrolytic by the lugs. I would probably use 2 - 2.0 capacitors for the other caps. Good Luck, George T

The S38d is an AC/DC line operated set. Appropriate capacitors of the 60/40/40 at 160 or greater voltage rating can be installed under the chassis. As mentioned, be sure to isolate the old capacitor's connections. For the .02 mFd capacitor(s) you can use a standard value 0.022 mFd capacitor probably at 630 volts.
