Im brand new @ this I know very little. I have a basic electricity background and know a little electronics from reading electronics for Dummies.I picked up an old tube type radio the philco 52-550 which I'm trying to repair i looked at the schematic you have posted but I can't figure out how the loop antenna hooks up to the radio ? does it tie into the variable capacitor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.I would like to join the forum tonight but i am not even sure how to do that. well thanks all

Take a look at the 52-544 schematic. That shows how the loop antenna connects to the set. The 52-550 is a variant of the 52-544, which is apparently why they didn't bother to publish the entire schematic under that model number.

Just a Caution---Make sure you understand the dangers of the AC/DC chassis you are working on, since you are new to the hobby..
