Hello All,
This radio has an odd problem. It can receive nothing between 900 and 1200 KHz, even though there are stations there. 540-900 work, 1200 to about 1500 work well too. Reception is weak past about 1500 but not completely missing. I don't think I've seen this problem before. It makes no sense to me.
If anyone knows what's going on, please let me know.

Hello All,
Since nobody knows, I bought the service data which is in AR-58 and I will find out myself. If I touch a screwdriver to the middle tuning coil and I put my finger on it so that I am the antenna, it makes the "missing" stations" a lot louder. So I believe that something is wrong in the front end section.
When the service data arrives, I'll let everyone know what I did to make it work.

Hello Again All,
When I touch a screwdriver to the collector of Q1 the reception is very strong. I can do the same at the base of Q1 and it makes no difference. Very strong stations are fine but unless I'm touching the collector of Q1 with a screwdriver all very weak stations stay so weak they are barely audible. So I suspect either that transistor or something in the AVC circuitry. But what should I check?
