The above dialcord diagram is from a set that is several years older than yours; but the arrangement is very similar. SABA got a lot of use out of this design!

Changing the FM cords is relatively easy (but fussy) whereas the AM cords are a bear. There should be a removeable plate in the dial that will facilitate things a little (but not much). Useful tools for this job are medium-sized crochet hooks, masking tape, and a couple of surgical needle holders (forceps).

Not sure how to counsel you about the AM drive cord (the inner one) if it is intact. If it were me, and I had to replace the AM dial-needle transport cord (outer one), I'd go ahead and replace the inner one, too. But it is quite tedious to do so. I've done it, so I know that it is possible, but just barely (although maybe my memory is inflating its level of difficulty). I believe the AM drive cord was installed at the factory as part of the tuning subchassis, so it was a relative breeze at that level of assembly. Once put together, it becomes very challenging.

Freiburg was the top of the line table model SABA. Meersburg was next to the top, then Freudenstadt, Villingen, and so on. In the USA these were given numbers instead of German city names: Freiburg was 400, Meersburg was 300, and so on. All of them used the same mechanical layout, the only difference being physical size- the Freiburg was much wider than the the lower-range models. Sort of the relationship Lincoln had to Ford cars in the 1930's- exact same design, just bigger parts for the Lincolns.
