Power Output Transformer

Ok, so I now need a replacement power output transformer. The original Ge Part number is ST0-001.. Any idea on how to find this or one that will work. This is my first time trying to find one as I have never had one bad in a radio before. I know this one is bad due to it reading open on the primary side. HELP ??? Cant wait til one of the radio pro's can help me out.

What kind of GE is it or what is (are) the output tube(s)? There are any number of places to get an output transformer, some are hard to find, others are not.

Lewis, the output tube is a 50L6 and the radio is a YRB79-2. Hope you can help me find what is needed.

What you need is the universal single output transformer as shown here.

Hi Jessie,
That is a pretty common transformer electrically. I can't speak for the mounting, though.
Any scrap radio that has a 50L6GT, 35L6GT, 50C5, 50B5, 50A5, 35C5, 35B5 or 35A5 as its output tube could be a donor.
I have seen them fail in two ways. Corrosion will get in and open the primary. The other way is that they short internally to the core and blow out the primary. Both are relatively rare occurrences.

Another way that output transformers can fail is if a bypass cap on the output tube plate shorts out, putting B+ to ground via the primary winding. This will cause a burnout fairly quickly. I've seen this several times in mid-50s German tube radios.

As has been said, just about any output transformer from a scrap AA5 radio will work. The 50L6, and its cousins, probably made up more transformers manufactured in the history of mankind.

:THANKS for all the replies. Im wondering if the one Im currently using would do the trick. I just wanted to get one that had bolt holes drilled and hardware with it to mount to the chassis. I know I can probably make this one work, its just a matter of soldering some more wire onto the short wire that went to the philco I pulled it from. I pulled it from a philco 46-420, a old hippo. This radio is being repaired for a friend, so I wanted it done correctly and nicely. Thanks again for all the answers. Its a smaller transformer the original that is and I do hope that I can find a newer one that will work.
