Of all the "brains" on this forum EDD was the only person to come up with the right answer on what the call letters mean.He hit the nail right on the head perfectly centered. The commander went on his trips to CANADA & complained to peoplke that he couldn't get CHICAGO on his set up there. Along with that & Short-wave heard halfway 'round the world came the logo marked on some sets >LONG DISTANCE<. He was a fantastic employer & demanded high from his employees. But he gave them a lot in return! The call letters were named after him to honor his loyalty to the slogan "The quality goes in before the name goes on". One set that was a FANTASTIC preformer was the SUPER NAVIGATOR. There were TWO versions-- one had the simple version of a compass the other had the better direction finder. They are on the radio attic. Look closely & you'll see the difference. He was a NAVY COMMANDER!
