I found a Philco record player in my local antique shop, bought it for the tubes and I brought it home, took a look-see, and found that it had no output. I also found a coil that I have not seen
in a phono amp that I have.
It's a Model 42RP2, Code 121.
Any ideas on this?

I do know that in 1940 Philco produced a record player that was magnetically coupled to
one of its consoles ... they also produced a TV set that did this ... I believe (not completely sure) that you have
the 1942 model ... two things that you can do: 1) from Antique Electronics Supply (www.tubesandmore.com)
can purchase a AM "Wireless Transmitter Kit" Part # K-488 for $30 plus shipping OR
2) If you do not want to go through this construction, if your record unit is in decent shape
I would be interested in purchasing it for the price that you paid plus shipping ...
P.S. I have purchased tubes from Antique .. and find the prices quite reasonable

I don't know if you have already received this information but the 42-RP2
record player has a built-in low power transmitter. You tune your radio to
approximately 540 kc. It should work up to 50 feet from the radio

This is a wireless phono with a built-in low power transmitter. It broadcasts up to 50 feet from you receiver on a frequency of 540 kc. Thats the reason for the coil in the circuit. You may also have
noticed a wire routed around the inside of the cabinet for an antenna. I have one of these also but the crystal cartridge needs to be rebuilt.
