Capacitor voltage

Hello all,

If two caoacitors are in parallel and rated at 100 volts each, will the new rated voltage be 200 volts?

What if in series?

Too old to remember.

Mitch

In parallel, no. In series, yes, but you might have to put resistors in parallel with each cap to equalize Voltages.

Series decreases capacitance but increases voltage.

Parallel increases capacitance, voltage is the lowest of the voltage ratings.

Thank you gentlemen,

Info printed and to go in my capacitor folder.
