Heath GR-64 Manual
2/18/2013 12:43:56 PMDoc
Does anyone have a copy or scan of a Heathkit GR-64 Shortwave Assembly Manual? I bought an unbuilt kit at a hamfest, but discovered that the manual was missing. A search of the net shows only partial scans that are missing the assembly instructions (pgs 8-32).

I'm hoping to relive some of my boyhood fun by bulding this with my son.

Thanks,

Doc

Doc:
If I can trust my sources, the radio is built on a printed wiring board, so that part should be a snap if the coils and IF cans are identified. After that, you should be able to finish it with help from this forum.

Sir Doc . . . . . .

Even my foreign sites don't have EVERY little one of assembly steps ion their pages coverage.

Those that you found already should suffice, with it being a PCB design.

After mounting parts mechanically, your BEST aid then will be a vinyl cover / sheet over the
schematic blowup and the use of a micro blue Sharpie to make close together loops over each interconnect
or wire made and a circle or square over the parts and solders junctions on the schematic.

An alcohol dampened Q- tip using alcohol will erase any "boo-boo's "

When the set is completely "blued" in you will be finished, without omitting any connections or leaving connections open.

There seem to be some wire interconnects and jumpers, so consult the bottom and top photos as best as you can.

Or else . . . . . you can pays your munnys and buy yourself a schematic off E-bay.

Thanks. I was hoping that someone might have a complete scan, but it looks like I'll have to go about this in the way you've suggested.

Hello Doc,

I have emailed you a full schematic with parts placement on the board. If you send this schematic to the Paint program in Microsoft you can zoom in and out with it to read the parts and trace the wiring.

Just a little work on your part.
