Hi,
Someone asked me to restore a Scott Hi-Fidelity All wave 23 tubes radio !!!

Anyone familiar with this type of radio ?

I have never restore a radio that has more than 11 tubes yet !

On internet, they say Scott model of 1935 referred to the Allwave 23 which is the first true hi-fidelity home radio/sound system for the home.

From some photos the guy sent to me, i see the 2 tweeters, but unfortunately the 12" sub-woofer is missing. (including the field coil too, i suppose)

I suspect that recapping and restoring this type of radio will cost a lot. I don't know yet if tubes are bad or missing. Tuning eye for sure won't glow.
What kind of pm speaker i should use, i dunno.

Have you ever restore that type of radio before ?

Thanks
Vianney

I hope he has agreed to pay good $$$ for this, if you take it on. All I can see is a lot of time, a lot of hair pulling, and work that could be involved. If the wiring is that old 'rubber' stuff that disintegrates, you will have mucho hours in just re-wiring the unit. Troubleshooting has to be nightmare with that many tube circuits...plus the missing parts you know about, let alone the one you don't know about yet...You make the call....
