Remove Sparton 616 dial glass without breaking it?

I have a Sparton console which evidently is a model 616. The dial precisely matches the picture on Radioattic for the 616, except mine is a console instead of a tombstone. This squarish curved glass is retained in a steel frame by 4 small tangs bent around the front of the glass in the middle of each side. The glass MUST come off for cleaning, and to straighten out an errant gasket. I was afraid I might break the glass if I just pried on the tangs up with a screwdriver or knife. Does anyone have a good plan for bending those tangs straight without breaking or chipping the glass?

Remove the radio chassis. Clean the glass dial cover in place.
