What does the pin designation S mean on the tubes in the Crosely 66TCS on the schematic.

:You're right, except in the 6SA7, it does connect to the screen grid too.

You are right Grid #5. SA7 is the only tube I know of that is connected differently between metal and glass tubes. I've never seen an interchangeably problem due to this difference?

::S in the schematic is shown as pin #1. It's the shell for metal tubes and base on tubes with lower metal section. For metal 12SA7 it also connects to grid #3.

:Pin 1 on this tube is grid 5 according to RCA Tube Manual. It actually show it as S G5.
