paper capacitors

HI all, I am going to re-stuff paper capacitors and with some patience was able to save the paper tube, what would be the best choice to cement the new caps inside, I thought mabe wood glue or epoxy? Just wondering if the medium ends up touching both leads on the cap if there would be a chance of changing its capacitance value.

Do you really need to glue the replacement inside the old paper tube? If so, can you just put a small dab of glue on the barrel of the replacement cap?

Hi Doug, I am trying to make these look like original caps, I am going all out for this Zenith im working on, its going to be a lot of work but will look nice, I know that the chassis and caps will not be visible once completed, mabe just wasting my time.I have tried using some carpenter glue and will fill the remainder with some wax.

Ideally it would be better to use something that can later be melted out in the event that the new capacitor failed, which is rather unlikely.

Wood glue, hot glue, and Elmer's glue all work well. You can also stuff the capacitor with paper or plastic, and then just fill the ends.

Something like a meltable wood filler lacquer stick might approach the original color.
