Are the filaments lit? A 6G5 has a .3 amp filament. The rest of your tubes are series wired off the AC line and have .15 amp filaments. Unless there is a special filament circuit for your eye tube a 6AB5 is needed, .15 amp filament.
To get green on an eye pin #5 must be ground and pin #4 positive, in your radio over 100 volts.
A 35Z5 will replace 35Z4 as long as pin #3 doesn't have a connection in your radio. 50L6 will replace 35L6 and is better with high line voltage.

: I am restoring a 3 band set by Pilot, model #T-1360. The problem is that despite replacing all the caps (except the mica ones) and checking every resistor (had to replace one) the tuning eye does not light! The set sounds great and functions beautifully, with good sound. I have taken out the 6G5 tuning eye and tested it, and it lights up beautifully on the tester. I have tried replacing the tube with a known good tube, and the new tube does not light either. The radio receives the broadcast band and 2 shortwave bands. The tube complement is as follows: (2) 12SK7, 12SA7, 12SJ7, 12SQ7, (2) 35L6, (2) 35Z4, 6G5 tuning eye, and 84445 Ballast. Interestingly, when I got the set it had 35Z5's instead of 35Z4's, and 50L6's instead of 35L6's. I have put the original tubes in place, but the set performs equally well with either set of tubes. I wonder if it could have been rewired by a previous owner? Any help in getting this tuning eye to light would be appreciated. I don't have a schematic so I don't know what the voltages on the pins are supposed to be, but I did test and found that there is power reaching the tube. Thanks! Jeff
