1924 Freshman TRF

Hello everyone,

I have a customer with a 1924 Freshman Master Piece. I have one of my own that works great, thanks to the Forum, Edd, Warren all others.

I have this one working now with all 01A tubes, using a vintage headset and a AK model E speaker.

I am powering with 6 Volts filament,45 Volt on the Detector and 90 Volts on the Amplifier. The radio plays fine.

Would I get better performance if I powerer the detector with 90 Volts instead of 45 Volts?

Thank you,

Mitch

The detector usually works best with 22 1/2 or 45 volts. If you use a 00A tube voltage may have to be even lower.

Due to grid being returned to A+ rather than - the tube will draw more current with higher plate voltage. Using an 01A you can try higher voltage.
