You may have to use an ohmmeter and check resistance from one of the tube sockets filament pin (1 or 4 ??)to the battery/power supply plug/leads.

:I'm restoring a Day-Fan 5 and I was going through the schematic and I noticed the voltage hook up is different than the 5 tube unit I am working on. On the schematic it has +90 +22 -b -c4 -c8. On this radio it has A+ and A- with no C listing. Did Day-Fan use different chassis in the the five tube model? I am chasing down the lack of 6 volts to the tube filaments and this is where the trouble starts.None of the schematics match on how this is wired or did someone do a Frankenstein on it.

Ed got me looking at the schematic. There are different versions of Dayfan 5:

Not all radios used a C battery. When a C battery is not used grid #1 of the output tube returns to A-. If a C battery is used connect C+ to A-. Sometimes C voltages were added in mid production.

:The Day-Fan 5 schematic appears to be for an AC radio using 5 pin AC tubes. Is your radio a DC radio using 4 pin tubes. If so one of the other Day-Fan schematics may be a better guide even if they are not exact.
