Grid Leak

Does one of those old grid leak resistors that look like a big buss fuse have a cap inside across it?

There is no capacitor inside a grid leak resistor.

Agree with Warren but there is an exception. RCA Radiola III and similar radios have a grid leak and cap in single unit.

When you have a radio with grid leak resistor there will be a cap bringing the signal to your tube.

I wondered as I have an Aeriola Senior that uses a grid leak resistor and every diagram I've see shows a cap (.000250) across the grid leak resistor but it is not in the radio so I wondered if it is inside the grid leak resistor. My grid leak resistor measures about 3meg and there is a 3 stamped in the brass end, however, the diagrams show a 1meg grid leak resistor. Still can't get it to work on either value.

Use a 1 Meg resistor and add a 250 PF capacitor across the resistor.

Yes, I know. I've tried that. Tried 1M and 270uufd.
