Wood Fillers

Hi All, Was wondering what you all are using to refinish wooden cabinets. I have one I'm working on and the finish was so bad I had to strip the whole cabinet. Well I tried Elmers wood filler with a water based brown pigment. By the time I got the light film off of the cabinet I swear I was back to the beginning and all of the filler came out of the wood grain. I've always built up the unfinished wood with lacquer and a lot of sanding in the past and thought this was going to be the answer to my prayers. NOT!!! So now I'm back to lacquer and sanding and you all know how time consuming that can be. I like a semi gloss finish leaning more on the glossy side of the spectrum. I've tried sanding sealer but it tends to leave white spots. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You, George T.

Hello, George. I don't have the answers but you can learn a lot from this website. Copy the address into your browser or just Google search for 'refinishing radio'.

The key to the filler is using a better product, or so it seems. I haven't tried myself.
