A picture of the radio like the one I won is on this page:

The only difference between mine and the one pictured is the knobs.
Mine are ivory and the pictured ones are brown.
If anyone could possibly give me an opinion on it's worth or a place where I can
check it out, I sure would
appreciate it since I really do not want to pay taxes on $1500.00 when
the radio isn't worth near that much and more than likely I'd end up
paying more in taxes then the dang thing is worth.
Collector Guide to Antique Radios, 4th edition, lists Emerson 149 as being worth $75-$100. At least with this value you won't be paying a lot of taxes.

: I won an Emerson Radio, Model 149 in a contest earlier this
: year. The sponsor has claimed that this particular radio is worth
: $1,500.00 and because of tax reasons, I am trying to find out what it's really worth because
: from all the research I've done, I can't find anything that's anywhere
: near the $1,500.00 price tag.

Thanks for confirming what I've suspected. I really do
appreciate your help since there is quite a bit of difference
in what the contest sponsor is claiming the radio is worth
and it's actual value.
